The ANS conducted a study on telehealth in France, based on 14 practices covering 11 specialties. These are:
- nephrology, geriatrics, cardiology, orthopedics/traumatology, anethesia, psychiatry, gerontopsychiatry (teleconsultation practices);
- neuropediatrics, dermatology, maxillofacial surgery (tele-expertise practices);
- ophthalmology, medical and surgical neurology, tele-radiology, chronic wounds treatment (multi-act practices).

The certificates that the ANS issues are an official means to identify the players of the health sector, persons and organisations. Certificates also act as a seal of quality, making sure that the issuing cryptographic key infrastructures (CKP) are conform to the sector’s best practice standards. Certificates can be revoked in case of failure to comply.

The ANS offers 4 types of software certificates:
- Legal person (Organisation)
- Legal person (Server)
- Natural person (Professional)
- Natural person (Health Professional)

The State evaluates the following criteria:
- Terminology conceived by one of the ANS’ Production Units
- Terminology conceived by a Production Unit with a convention
- Terminology in usage
- Terminology compatible with the ANS right imposition
- Reference terminology
- “Open” terminology
- Maturity of the Production Unit in charge of the terminology’s conception and maintenance
- Local terminology sets (“small terminologies”)
- Terminology conceived by a “fragile” Production Unit / Terminology conceived by a Production Unit without a distribution point
